Warning Signs: Spotting Fake Dating Service Profiles
Looking back on things, I’m not really sure how I was unable to spot a fake dating service profile in my early online dating days. I knew there were fake profiles on most sites. I think everybody does. But I was terrible at spotting the ones that were fake. There were women I sent emails to multiple times because I really liked their pics only to eventually realize they were fakes.
Online dating is a multi-billion dollar industry. Many of these dating services have hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of paying members. It’s not difficult to get members on a dating service website. But it’s a hefty investment with high potential. So put yourself into the shoes of an online dating site executive. You’ve invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to create the site, hire employees, and market your product.
Obviously, you aren’t going to want to just throw away that money. You built the site with the intention of making tons of money. And it’s very easy to do as long as you give online daters a good reason to sign-up. What’s one of the best ways to get men to sign-up for your dating site? Have a female member base that is filled with very attractive women.
Unfortunately, it’s not easy to get hot women to sign-up. What do you think would happen if a site had mostly unattractive women signed up? They wouldn’t make any money. I know that seems harsh and shallow but it’s the truth. Men sign up for dating sites that have a high percentage of cute chicks. It’s just the way it is. So when the website you operate isn’t attracting good looking girls, what’s the most convenient way to fix that? Create a bunch of fake profiles with women men only get to see when watching a porno video.
When You Can’t Beat the Competition, Do Something Immoral?
Desperate dating sites use desperate measures to sell their product. On 10 of the 15 sites we reviewed, there were an ungodly amount of scam dating service website profiles. Like any other guy, I’ve watched one or two pornographic videos in my day – okay, I’ve watched about one or two…thousand – and the women I see in those videos don’t walk up and down the streets in my town regularly. But, for some reason, when I look on many dating service websites I notice a ridiculous amount of women that look like the chicks I’ve seen in porno vids. Hmm…I wonder why!
When a dating site can’t keep up with the competition, they take drastic measures. Like I said, they’ve invested a boat load of money into their site – too much money to be able to afford to lose. It is damn hard to create a legitimate, profitable dating site. How sites such as Xpress and Match do it is beyond me. Clearly, they have more money and better resources than most other sites because they aren’t populating their sites with fake profiles. Attractive women (and men) are more than willing to pay for a membership (just not porn star looking chicks because porn stars don’t use dating sites!).
Complete List of the Most Common Dating Service Scams and How to Spot Them
There are more scammers on dating service websites than you could imagine. Big business leads to crooked bastards scamming people out of their money. However, it’s not just the websites that are a part of it. There are many individuals that are not connected to the dating sites that use the sites to find a “sucker”. Don’t fall victim to these scammers. Take a look at this list of the most common online dating service scams and learn how to spot them…
Fake Profile Scam: I’ve already talked about this one in detail because it’s the most common one. If there are far too many pictures of women whose pictures don’t show any imperfections, the profiles are fake. Perfect women have men come to them. They don’t need to take advantage of the convenience of online dating because they don’t have to do any work to meet someone.
Foreign Profile Scam: Watch out for women that sign-up for a dating site that wants to meet a man in the United States. They claim to “love America” and will act like legitimate single women. The scam is she will convince you to ship her some cash to travel and see you. These women are easy to spot. If she’s way too into Americans and America and refuses to pay to come see you, it’s a scam.
Travel Expense Scam: This one is similar to the Foreign Profile Scam. The difference is she’ll be a U.S. resident. It’s not uncommon to meet someone that lives in another city or state online. You are free to date whomever you choose. Just be careful not to get victimized by a woman pretending to want to come see you. As a general rule, NEVER pay for a woman to come see you until you’ve met her a couple of times. That way you can trust she actually will visit you instead of taking your money and running.
Escort Scam: Dating sites are the absolute best places for Escorts/Hookers to find clients. The sites are filled with horny men that are single. So they will sign-up, act like normal members, and once you meet her, she’ll inform you that she’s only looking for sex but you’re going to have to pay for it. Avoid this scam by avoiding women that ONLY talk about YOU and what they can do for YOU and not about themselves. If she’s way too into you and she’s attractive, she’s probably a hooker.
